Assorted Acro is a colorful sps coral selected for saltwater reef aquariums. Allow new corals time to acclimate after shipping and avoid sudden changes in lighting, flow, salinity, or alkalinity.
Care Guide
- Care Level: Moderate to Advanced
- Lighting: 200β350 PAR
- Flow: Strong, random/turbulent
- Placement: Middle to upper reef
- Salinity: 1.024β1.026 specific gravity
- Temperature: 76β79Β°F
Placement & Acclimation
Start the coral in a slightly lower-light area than its final target and increase light exposure gradually. Watch polyp extension, tissue inflation, and coloration when adjusting placement. Acropora does best with strong random flow and very stable alkalinity, salinity and nutrients.
Water Chemistry
Stable parameters are more important than chasing exact numbers. A practical reef range is alkalinity around 7.5β9.0 dKH, calcium 400β450 ppm, and magnesium 1250β1400 ppm with measurable nitrate and phosphate. Avoid rapid swings.
Feeding
Most photosynthetic corals receive much of their energy from light, but appropriate coral foods and naturally available plankton can support growth. If target feeding, use small portions and avoid overfeeding the aquarium.
AquaGemCorals Tip
Give new corals time to settle before making repeated adjustments. Stable water chemistry, appropriate light, and suitable flow usually produce better long-term results than constantly moving the coral.
