Arrow Crab
The Arrow Crab is one of the most unique and entertaining invertebrates available for marine aquariums. With its long, spider-like legs, pointed body, and curious personality, this fascinating crab is constantly exploring rockwork in search of food. Its unusual appearance makes it an instant conversation piece in any saltwater aquarium.
Arrow Crabs are excellent scavengers that help consume leftover food, detritus, and small nuisance pests. They are also known to prey on bristleworms, making them a popular choice for hobbyists looking to help manage large bristleworm populations. While generally reef-safe, they may opportunistically catch very small ornamental shrimp, feather dusters, or other delicate invertebrates if underfed.
Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Reef Safe: With Caution
Diet: Meaty foods, leftover fish food, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, pellets, bristleworms, and other small invertebrates
Adult Size: Up to 6 inches (leg span)
Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons
AquaGemCorals Tip: Provide plenty of rockwork and hiding places for your Arrow Crab to explore. Feeding a varied diet helps reduce the chance of it picking at desirable invertebrates. While they can help control nuisance bristleworms, they are best suited for aquariums without very small shrimp or other delicate ornamental invertebrates.
