Blue-Legged Reef Hermit Crab
Add one of the best clean-up crew members to your reef tank! Blue-Legged Reef Hermit Crabs (Clibanarius tricolor) are hardy, active scavengers native to the Caribbean and western Atlantic. Their striking electric-blue legs make them both functional and attractive additions to any marine aquarium.
These hermit crabs spend their day picking at algae, leftover food, and detritus, helping keep your tank clean while constantly exploring the rockwork and sand bed. They are generally reef-safe and are an excellent choice for reef and fish-only aquariums.
Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Peaceful
Reef Safe: Yes
Diet: Omnivore – algae, detritus, leftover food, and quality sinking pellets or frozen foods
Adult Size: Up to 1 inch
Minimum Tank Size: 10 gallons
AquaGemCorals Tip: Provide a variety of empty shells in your aquarium so your hermit crabs have new homes to move into as they grow. This helps reduce the chance they'll compete with snails for shells.
