Cleaner Shrimp (Lysmata amboinensis)
The Cleaner Shrimp is one of the most popular and beneficial invertebrates for saltwater aquariums. Known for its bright red-and-white coloration and long white antennae, this reef-safe shrimp adds constant activity while providing natural cleaning behavior.
Cleaner Shrimp will often establish a "cleaning station," where fish voluntarily visit to have parasites, dead tissue, and excess mucus removed. While they shouldn't be relied upon to cure disease, they are excellent scavengers and an entertaining addition to nearly any reef aquarium.
