Coral Banded Shrimp
The Coral Banded Shrimp is one of the most recognizable and fascinating shrimp found in the marine aquarium hobby. With its bold red-and-white banded body, oversized pincers, and long white antennae, this shrimp adds striking color and endless personality to any reef or fish-only aquarium.
Coral Banded Shrimp are active scavengers that help clean up leftover food and organic debris while spending much of their time perched beneath rock ledges or inside caves. They are hardy, easy to care for, and can even establish cleaning stations where fish may visit to have parasites and dead tissue removed.
Care Level: Easy
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Reef Safe: Yes, with caution (may prey on very small shrimp and can be territorial toward other crustaceans)
Diet: Meaty foods, mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, pellets, frozen seafood, and leftover fish food
Adult Size: Up to 3 inches (body), with antennae extending much farther
Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons
AquaGemCorals Tip: Provide plenty of caves and rock overhangs where your Coral Banded Shrimp can establish a home. They are best kept singly or as a confirmed mated pair and should not be housed with other ornamental shrimp unless the aquarium is large enough to provide separate territories.
